"Without education, there is no hope for our people and without hope, our future is lost" -Charles Hamilton Houston

Announcement:

Meeting at Princeton High School March 26, 2011 at 6:00 PM enter at the main entrance.

Our Purpose:

Our purpose is to schedule tours at Historical black colleges and universities in effort to encourage high school students grades 9th through 12th to consider going to any college or university of their choice after graduating from high school n order to become marketable and competitive in the work force.

Mission Statement:

Our goal is to help all high school students grades 9th thru 12th to focus on getting a college education, and to achieve that education in order to become our next leaders, to become knowledgeable in their field of study, and to become more challenging in the work force.

We believe in standing behind, encouraging, and pushing out young men and women to achieve a higher education because they are our future.

We are here to bridge the gap between high school and college by providing BCU Tours. These tours provide presentations and information that will help the student realize that they can achieve a college degree. In the presentation we discuss financial aid, grade point average, and any other questions the students may have. Students can be accepted at some of the colleges, if their grade point average is slightly below 2.0.

History

In the year of 2007 was the first time that I had ever heard about Black Colleges and Universities tours. My son was in the 11th grade, and I thought that this would be a great opportunity for him to attend such an event. I went along as a chaperone. Every college and university were waiting on our arrival, and escorted us to an auditorium where we received and excellent presentation about the school and what it takes to get accepted.

School representatives talked about the high school grade point average needed to enter the college/university, the ACT and/or SAT scores needed, and the field of study that they had to offer at that particular school. Students were allowed to ask questions, informational packets about the school were given to each student, and we were given a complete tour of the campus to include the classroom setting.

I was so excited about what I had experienced, that I decided to start a HBCU tour. In 2007, I began working on Visions For Success (BCU) Tours, which is now a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. In 2008, we attended our first Visions for Success (BCU) tour. The tour lasted five days and we visited ten universities and colleges, the tour was very successful. We had students that thought they were not college material change their mind during the tour. The Visions for Success (BCU) tours staff members were overwhelmed when some of the students got accepted into some of the universities/colleges, and this is what makes the tours so exciting for me.

Visions for Success (BCU) looks forward to many years of providing tours for high school students 9th through 12th, to help them obtain a better vision for success.

Sincerely,

Jennell White

Founder and President of Visions for Success (BCU) Tours.
