MISSION STATEMENT

Our goal is to help all high school students, especially African- American students grades 9th thru 12th to focus on getting a college education, and to achieve that education in order to become our next leaders, to become knowledgeable in their field of study, and to become more challenging in the work force.

We believe in standing behind, encouraging, and pushing our young men women to achieve a higher education because they are our future.

We are here to bridge the gap between high school and college by providing Historical Black college Tours to students grade 9th thru 12th. These tours provide presentations and information that will help the students realize that they can achieve a college degree. In the presentation we discuss financial aid, grade point average, and any questions the students may have. Students can be accepted at some of the colleges if their grade point average is slightly below 2.0.

HISTORY

In the year of 2007 was the first time that I had ever heard about Historical Black Colleges and Universities tours.  My son was in the eleventh grade, and I thought that this would be a great opportunity for him to attend such an event.  I went along as a chaperone.  Every college and/or university were waiting on our arrival, and escorted us to an auditorium where we received an excellent presentation about the school and what it takes to get excepted.

They talked about the high school grade point average needed to enter the college/university, the ACT and/or SAT scores needed, and the field of study that they had to offer at that particular school.  They allowed each student to ask questions, and they gave out informational packages about the school to each of the students, and finally, it ended with a complete tour of the campus including the classroom setting.

I was so excited about what I had experienced, that I decided to start a HBCU tour.  In 2007 I began working on Visions For Success (Black college Tour) which is now a 501c3 non-profit Inc.  In 2008 we attended our first Visions For Success black college tour.  The tour lasted 5 days and we visited 10 universities and colleges.  The tour was very successful.  We had students that thought they were not college material change their mind during the tour.  The Visions for Success (Black College Tours) staff members were overwhelmed when some of the students got accepted into some of the university/colleges, and this is what makes the tours so exciting for me.

Visions For Success (Black College Tour) look forward to many years of providing tours for high school students grade 9th through 12th, regardless of race, in helping them to obtain a better vision for success.

Sincerely,

Jennell White
